HEALTH CAPTAINS ACTIVELY CHAMPION THE HEALTHSPAN OF ISLANDERS AND THE ONE HEALTH OF THEIR FAVORITE ISLANDS
Champion the Islands as Lighthouses of Global One Health and Lifecare Innovation
Islands are more than scenic retreats—they are emotional sanctuaries, places of healing, and often cherished homes. Yet when it comes to healthcare, island residents, property owners, and millions of annual visitors face real disadvantages. Limited access to advanced medical care highlights a critical imbalance with mainland systems. At the same time, islands are uniquely positioned to lead the transformation from reactive Sickcare to proactive Lifecare—placing healthspan, resilience, and wellbeing at the center of their future.
As natural laboratories for innovation, islands mirror both the vulnerabilities and the opportunities of our time. As Kofi Annan once stated, “Islands are the frontal zones of the earth in which the main problems of development and environmental change become apparent”. That same urgency now applies to healthcare. Islands must evolve into resilient health ecosystems—protecting their citizens, second-home owners, and guests—through scalable, value-based Lifecare Models.
That’s why THE HEALTH CAPTAINS CLUB invites you to become a founding member, supporter, or leader of an Island Convergence Chapter—a platform dedicated to creating and connecting Healthy Longevity Island Medical Centers to academic hubs in global health capitals such as New York, Paris, Riyadh, Zürich, and Stockholm. In collaboration with academic medical centers, these chapters will accelerate access to precision health, integrative care, and digital health innovations—ensuring islanders receive the same quality of care as those in the world’s top cities.
Inspired by Blue Zones such as Ikaria (Greece), Okinawa (Japan), and Sardinia (Italy), our strategy leverages islands as ideal sites for developing Blue Zone Community Care, One Health Lifecare, and Healthy Longevity Medicine (as defined by the Healthy Longevity Medicine Society). With over 11,000 inhabited Islands worldwide, and more than 2,000 in the EU alone, the opportunity for collective impact is profound.
Whether you are a native islander, a second-home owner, a healthcare innovator, or a passionate island visitor—your leadership is needed. Join us in building the future of global island health: inclusive, connected, science-driven, and deeply human.
