Joachim Maurice Mielert

Managing Director Board of Trustees of THE HEALTH CAPTAINS CLUB

Profile

Patient safety must move to the forefront of healthcare system design.

Joachim Maurice Mielert works at the interface of health policy, patient safety, and cross-sector stakeholder coordination. His focus lies on practical system improvement, governance structures, and connecting people who usually operate in separate parts of the healthcare system.

He served for three years as Secretary General of the Aktionsbündnis Patientensicherheit (APS e.V., Berlin), a non-profit organization bringing together around 800 members, including approximately 450 institutional stakeholders across the German healthcare system. During this time, he was involved in the coordination of national patient safety initiatives and in dialogue with public authorities, healthcare organizations, and professional bodies. The APS develops and disseminates practical approaches to improve safety in medical and nursing care and contributed to the establishment of the World Patient Safety Day (WHO, 17 September).

Alongside his policy work, Mielert founded DOPANET Wissen & Kommunikation, an independent platform connecting around 8,000 participants across healthcare, patient communities, industry, and policy. The initiative is deliberately independent, self-financed, and focused on direct exchange rather than representation structures.

He is also active in investment, brand development, and advisory contexts, with a long-standing background in building and supporting structures across different sectors.

Within the THE HEALTH CAPTAINS CLUB (THCC), Joachim Maurice Mielert serves as Managing Director of the Board of Trustees, responsible for the coordination of governance and alliance structures and alignment of strategic advisory processes across international health leadership networks.

His mandate supports THCC’s focus on:
