Dr. Frank Grossmann studied Veterinary Medicine in Hannover and Sydney and after obtained his Doctoral Degree at ETH / UZH Zurich about Human Physiology. He served as a lecturer at the renowned ETH Zurich, where he focused on pharmaceutical innovation and interdisciplinary education in translational medicine.
Driven by his commitment to rare disease advocacy, he founded Orphanbiotec AG, the first not-for-profit biotech company focused exclusively on rare diseases. Building on this mission, he later established OrphanHealthcare, an internationally active NGO developing cross-sectoral holistic solutions for underserved families — including digital patient tools, trauma-sensitive parent support, research collaborations and promoting the first international Rare Disease Campus. Dr. Frank Grossmann successfully appointed Dr. Joseph Muscat, former Prime Minister of Malta, as the new international Ambassador for OrphanHealthcare – a key step in expanding the NGO’s global visibility and strategic partnerships in the field of rare diseases.
With over 20 years of experience at the intersection of Healthcare, Policy, and Philanthropy, he is known for bridging innovation with impact, and for uniting academic, clinical, and social actors in rare disease care on a global scale. He is author and co-author of various books and articles and got awarded to the Winner of SEIF-Social Entrepreneur Initiative Foundation Award 2012, Co-Nominee WE.De Vigier Award 2014 and «The Most Impactful and Visionary Personalities to Look Out For in 2025» of CIO Business World Dubai.
